SANTA ROSA, Calif. (September 14, 2008)- Buff Headwear, the versatile, innovative, stylish and multifunctional headwear, has generated many influential angler fans over the years.  Buffs can be worn over ten different ways and boast amazing technology that resonates well with fisherman, such as the UV Buffs with Insect Shield technology that protect against, not only damaging UV rays, but also pesky insects.

Below is an overview of some anglers who wear Buffs on all fishing outings and the reasons they find their Buffs to be so valuable.

Tom Rowland, Pro Salt Water Fisherman

Tom Roland is a resident of Key West, Florida and is a gold and solver medalist in the ESPN Great Outdoor Games and is the IFA Redfish Tour Champion.  He has won over 65 inshore fishing titles, as well as, being an IGFA World Record holder.  He has been featured on 25 nationally televised fishing programs and regularly contributes photos and articles to almost all of the fly-fishing and salt-water fishing magazines.   Rowland participates in demonstrations at fishing consumer shows from South Carolina to California.

“I use Buff Headwear everyday.  For sun protection, wind protection and improved visibility, I demand Buff products.  With most equipment, I can live without it, but if I find myself without my Buff, I turn the boat around,” says Rowland.

Pat Ford, Pro Photographer, Writer and Fisherman

Pat Ford has been Miami trial attorney for over 40 years and has recently been directing his time to photography, writing and fly-fishing.  He is a holder of 16 IGFA fly rod world records ranging from 196-pound tiger shark to a 14.5-pound tiger fish.  Ford has fished all over the world and has published his favorite trips and photos in “The Best Fly Fishing Trips Money Can Buy”.  He is a contributing editor for Fly Fishing in Salt Water and his articles  and photos have appeared in almost every magazine that covers salt water fishing.  His photos are displayed in Buff’s fish scale pattern.

“My Irish descent and fair complexion are not particularly compatible with spending days on a flats skiff in the Florida Keys.  UV protection is essential for me and sun tan lotions simply don’t provide the degree of protection that I need.  Skin cancers are a major concern for everyone who fishes in south Florida, and Buff provides the most comfortable and effective face mask on the market,” says Ford.

Peter Miller, Team Member of World Champion Get Lit Fishing Team and Professional Model

Peter Miller, 39 years old from Tappan, New York, has been competing in the Billfish Tournaments for over 20 years. He was the director of the Miami Beach Rod and Reel Club in 1992.  Miller caught his first billfish in Venezuela in 1993 and his first Sailfish on fly in Costa Rica in 1993. Miller has been named the top angler in the Silver Sailfish Derby, Drambui Marlin and Miami Sailfish (twice), Islamorada Swordfish (twice), Bob Lewis Billfish, and has won the World Billfish Series Southeast Divisional Title three years in a row.

“I started wearing a Buff because one day I was on one of my photo shoots and I had just completed a four-day sailfish tournament and my clients were noticing how sunburned my neck and face were.  It seemed as though no matter how much sunblock I put on my neck and face, I was still getting burned.  I noticed a couple of guys wearing a Buff and I wound up purchasing one.  I then bought them for my teammates and long story short, we all have at least ten Buffs each and we never have to worry about our necks getting sunburned again.  Buffs are great for you skin and they allow me to do what I love and now for the first time in 16 years as a model, when sailfish season is upon us, I can show up to a photo shoot without looking or being sunburned.  What a fantastic product!” says Miller.
