PETALUMA, Calif.(May 2004) – While the onus is clearly upon motorists to avoid people outside exercising or commuting with alternative modes of transportation, why not make things a little easier for them in low-light conditions? Toward that end, Buff® Headwear is launching its new Reflective Buff® this summer. Reflective Buff® will be available in outdoor and sports shops starting in July 2004, just before the shorter days of fall and a time of year when people are more likely to be outside at dusk and dawn.
Reflective Buff was created to help runners, walkers, cyclists, skaters and others who enjoy outdoor activities be proactive about safety in the winter, spring, fall, or any other time the need for exercise drives them out in low light. Bright, visible Scotchlite™ reflective stripes line two sides Reflective Buff, creating a large areas that reflect light brightly back to its source. These stripes are visible from up to 150 meters (490 feet).
Reflective Buff also retains all of the versatile and performance aspects of original Buff® Headwear. It morphs in seconds into more than 10 different garments, allowing outdoor recreators and athletes to combat changing weather conditions on the go. Among its many uses, Buff serves as a hat, headband, neck gaiter, sun, wind or dust, screen, bandana, scarf, pirate-style cap, helmet liner, balaclava, hairband or wristband.
And like original Buff Headwear, Reflective Buff is available in a number of colorful styles, so it’s not only practical and versatile, it scores points for style and fun as well. Reflective Buff retails for $19 and is available in six designs. It is also available in junior sizing (age 5 to teenagers) in four designs.

simplicity – one garment serves many functions. Original Buff Headwear – a seamless tubular garment made from a high-performance microfiber fabric – performs well for hiking, running, cycling, motorcycling and skate sports in the warmer months and skiing and snowboarding in the winter. It provides the same performance benefits that athletes demand from the rest of their performance clothing. In warm weather, Buff is breathable, wicks sweat, and helps keep you cool. In colder temperatures, it has thermal and wind-resistant properties similar to soft-shell fabrics. Buff Headwear is also available in a Polar version for cold weather, a Visor model for sun protection, and now Reflective Buff for visibility.
