I was born and raised in Finland, and moved to the U.S. at the age of 18 in 2012. I was always fascinated by other languages and cultures, and before moving here, my goal had always been to study abroad. I started my undergraduate degree in Oregon, and finished at the University of Colorado Boulder, where I majored in strategic communication with a focus in public relations.

I continue to be intrigued by the differences in Finnish and American culture. Living and working here has been an exciting challenge to navigate. I have happily settled in Boulder, Colorado with my partner and our Siberian Husky, Hobbes. We love to cook, travel and hike together. This year, my goals are to take up ice skating again, and to get more involved with the local Finnish community. I am excited to be working at Verde and becoming part of the awesome, talented team!

Marisa graduated in May 2017 from the University of Missouri with a B.S./B.A. in Marketing and moved to Boulder to join the Verde Team. Growing up in an active family it was easy for her to find her passion for the outdoors. From learning how to ski when she was three to spending most of her childhood at the base of the Sandia’s in Albuquerque she was never too far from adventure. Before joining Verde, Marisa interned for a PR and marketing agency in New York City that specialized in arts and entertainment clients. She gained great deal of PR and marketing experience, but was missing her passion for the outdoors. From her time in New York she decided the mountains were a better fit than the concrete jungle. Outside of the office you can find her hiking, skiing, running, rock climbing, and off-roading in her Jeep.

Lauren graduated from Penn State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a Minor in Spanish. She has been working with Verde in different capacities for the past several years. She began in 2009 as a student-intern and today she is an Account Manager.

Although she is in love with the Colorado sunshine, Lauren still calls Pittsburgh home (Go Steelers!). She lights up when globetrotting, playing outdoors, cooking, capturing moments, wearing a tutu, challenging others to a bowling match, guzzling Tabasco and gnawing on Habanero peppers (the girl breathes fire). She prefers to do all of the above alongside her adored friends and family and her dog Tank.

Laura grew up braving the conditions of East Coast skiing at a little mountain in central Connecticut and, when she was lucky, in the Green Mountains of Vermont with her family.  After just a few trips north she was hooked.  In pursuit of the outdoors and a people-focused career, she earned a degree in Public Communications at the University of Vermont.  There she discovered the thrill of downhill skateboarding (Burlington is one big hill) and her passion for travel after a semester in New Zealand.

Storytelling has always been at the forefront of Laura’s adventures – whether it be sharing the tales of experiences with friends, reading about the feats of mountaineers, or telling the story of a brand.  She also has a strong affinity for Vietnamese food and can whip up a set of fresh spring rolls on any given night.
