SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (February 5, 2020)Royal Robbins announces a new retail concept with stores opening in Denver and Seattle this summer. The stores will be Royal Robbins’ next generation designs and first retail openings since the company was acquired by Fenix Outdoor in 2018.

“Our concept is the result of a progressive new vision for the travel goods retail space: to offer a one-of-a-kind, travel guide-enabled shopping experience. The environment is specifically designed and curated to provide the ultimate apparel and accessories outfitting experience for active travelers,” says Michael Millenacker, Chief Executive Officer of Royal Robbins. “Store staff are prepared, similar to a guide, to help travelers navigate the entire trip preparation process. By connecting with travelers on where they are going, what activities they will be doing and what climates to prepare for, our travel guides will expertly outfit travelers.”

Opening its doors this summer in Denver’s vibrant Highlands neighborhood, the Royal Robbins store will be adjoining its sister brand, Fjällräven’s new store. The new Royal Robbins Seattle store, also slated to open this summer, will be located in downtown Seattle near Pike Place Market.

Tres birds workshop, a Denver architecture and contracting firm, was commissioned for the design of the new stores. It is their simple philosophy – based on honest design and ecological principles – that sets them apart and made them the perfect partner for Royal Robbins on this project. The firm sourced materials that will have a second life in these stores. They utilized reclaimed brick from a local demolished warehouse, discarded tiles from a local artisanal tile maker, and wood taken from 100-year-old Santa Fe railroad cars.

The stores will also feature “Royal’s Rewear” program where customers will be able to bring in unwanted garments that will be recycled or upcycled through a partnership with I:Collect (I:CO). These efforts and the focus on the brand’s ethos of Responsible Travel aims to inspire travelers to build sustainability and responsibility into their adventures.
