Our Durango public relations office is where it all started. Almost 20 years ago, after a decade-long journalism career, our CEO and Founder, Kristin Carpenter planted roots in this small southwest Colorado mountain town, a Four Corners central hub nestled in the mountains of the San Juan mountains. Durango is known for its access to amazing skiing at places such as Telluride, Wolf Creek, Silverton, and Purgatory, its world-famous mountain bike trails, its climbing, overlanding, and range of class III-V river rafting and kayaking. Durango is also a short drive to some of Utah’s top adventure destinations including Moab, Arches National Park and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. It’s no wonder why our team is so passionate about the outdoor community and our clients when the work-life balance of working and playing can happen right from our backdoor.

A short 35-minute flight from Denver, Durango is also famous for being the start or end (depending on your hiking or biking direction) of the 486-mile Colorado Trail, and home to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train. It has amazing cultural diversity as home to the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain tribes and a diverse Native American student population at local Fort Lewis College. Verde works closely with Fort Lewis offering internships for students interested in learning more about multichannel communications, public relations, digital marketing, storytelling, and events marketing. We work out of R Space Durango, a co-working community where we’re able to collaborate and build relationships with other Durango-based businesses (pre-COVID-19).

Throughout the years, we’ve worked with a range of Southwest, Colorado-based organizations including Ska Brewing, Osprey, Zukes dog treats, and our agency was a founding partner of the Southwest Colorado Outdoor Recreation (SWCORA). Our Durango location has been used as the backdrop for other clients over the years, such as for a PEARL iZUMi mountain biking photoshoot, as well as an operations basecamp for a GU Energy Labs media trip to Bear's Ears.

Today, we continue to seek out local companies to create relationships with and are currently helping manage public relations for Tailwind Nutrition and Open Sky Wilderness Therapy - both local Durango-based companies. We like to collaborate locally with other agencies in the industry, such as Revelry Experience to help with experiential marketing for larger-scale events. Beyond our client work, our Durango-based employees take time to give back to the close-knit Durango community in a number of ways. Senior Account Manager, Alexa McRoberts volunteers as a big sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Kristin serves as a mentor for Telluride Venture Accelerator.

Whether you're looking to drive sales, grow and engage your audience, be discovered by more brand fans, or are looking for a creative, service-oriented approach to your integrated brand communications, our small but mighty Durango-based team has over two decades of experience working in the outdoor and lifestyle space and finding innovative solutions for specialty brands.

Below are some of our service offerings, please take a look and contact us with any questions.

“I grew up in a big city in Pennsylvania but was fortunate enough to stumble across Durango while visiting a friend in college. I didn't know mountains like this existed! Little did I know this old west town would prove to be the ultimate hub for all of my favorite outdoor adventures and my career—thanks to meeting Kristin and discovering Verde.”
