Sustainable gear for Earth Day 2026
Sustainable picks that reduce impact and inspire everyday outdoor adventures.
Astral Designs
Since Astral's founding in 2012, the brand's mission has been to design high-performance equipment, built to protect the maximum amount of soil + water. Their increased use of hemp is just one example of this. Long before synthetic performance gear existed, humans trusted hemp to hold sails against ocean winds and bind ropes under enormous strain. Astral brings that same quiet, durable reliability into its apparel and footwear. In addition to hemp, Astral also uses Kapok and Canvas, other sustainable alternatives to petroleum-based materials.
Astral is proud to be a bluesign® system partner - it’s the gold standard third-party certification that helps the brand constantly evaluate its supply chain and prevent harmful chemicals from entering Nature.
HempTech Apparel
Astral's Performance HempTech line includes hoodies, tees, shorts, and pants, designed for trails, water, travel, and everyday use. Hemp is naturally breathable, cooling, and odor-resistant, meaning fewer washes, less packing, and more freedom. It carries a 30 UPF sun rating, handles whatever conditions you put it through, and — unlike most performance fabrics — gets softer the more you wear it. Additionally, compared to cotton, hemp uses half the water and produces more than double the yield, with zero herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. Sun. Soil. Water. That's it. It's one of the simplest, most regenerative crops on the planet, and wearing it means your gear isn't quietly costing the earth something it can't get back.

Gregory Packs
We build groundbreaking, long-lasting, human-powered products. Since 1977, we have been relentless in the pursuit of high-performance, high-quality packs, bags, and adventure travel gear. This pursuit of best-in-class performance and quality has led us to where we are today and is woven into our DNA. Through many years of trial and error, we have learned that building low-impact, high-performance products is a complex journey that requires a moral and scientific compass. It requires new ideas, building concept models, testing them, evaluating, then repeating the process until you have a result you are proud of. Through clever and responsible innovation, taking substantive steps to measure and reduce our footprint, and providing gateway opportunities to expose more people to the benefits of the outdoors, we end up in a better place – as individuals, as a brand, and as a planet.
