Surly Bikes launches an updated Skid Loader with new features for hauling it all
A compact electric cargo bike equipped for carrying heavy cargo in everyday commutes expands its capabilities this fall
Surly Bikes, known for its quality steel bikes and parts, releases an updated compact electric cargo bike with the release of a new Skid Loader. Built to navigate tight spaces and haul heavy loads, Surly has revamped the Skid Loader’s performance and adds new features for a more traditional ride experience.
Built to haul heavy loads and cut down on car trips, the Skid Loader comes in three broad fitting sizes, is equipped with a robust rear rack, the option to run dual batteries, and clearances for large volume tires. Features such as the dropper post and sloping top tube for adequate standover clearance, the frame comfortably fits riders from 5 '0”-6' 6.”
What stands Skid Loader apart from other cargo ebikes, is that it is engineered to ride like a regular bike. With 27.5” wheels, wide tires, and the ability for riders to dial in the fit, the Skid Loader feels like regular bike. Fully loaded, the included rear rack has a 100lb weight capacity. It also includes dual battery capability and an updated Bosch Performance Line Cargo smart system, providing support up to 20mph that pairs with a Purion 200 remote. Other updates include a front wheel stabilizer that makes loading and unloading cargo easier and safer and new to this model are included lights (Axa Nxt 60 Front, AXA Blueline Rear) for increased visibility.
The Skid Loader features Surly’s custom-butted 'Natch' tubesets, which allow the engineering team to dial in the thickness and shape, ensuring the best ride quality possible. From geo design, manufacturing, welding, heat treatment, and finishing, versatility and durability is considered every step of the way.

With ample tire clearance (27.5" x 2.8" without fenders), this compact electric cargo bike can flex from commutes to recreational rides.
